Josias Joesler,  whose work is revered -- and coveted -- by Tucsonans who like old buildings started out designing houses near the University of Arizona.

This 617-square-foot house in the Blenman Elm neighborhood was one of his first local designs, according to the neighborhood's application for historic status. He designed 21 houses in Blenman Elm, including this one in 1928, the application says. He went on to design much fancier homes in the foothills, some of which sell for north of $1 million.
